A fantastic experience. Difficult to put into words seeing the utter delight on the children’s faces crossing the line knowing they had been encouraged , recognised and had personally achieved.”

On the day I felt that the event was really well organised and there was the constant reminder of it is the children’s day and they should have fun/take part/experience triathlon! The equipment is amazing and everyone shows their gratitude for the volunteers being there which is really nice. Appreciated as always the lunch being provided! Another benefit was networking with the other volunteers, that was really nice!

Myself and two colleagues volunteered at John Smeaton in Leeds, the day was really well organised. We opted to volunteer at the finish line and had such a fun and rewarding day. We were working as a team with other volunteers, packing up 1000+ goody bags that were handed out. We were encouraging and cheering the children on as they came over the finish line and handing out medals. I would highly recommend getting involved if you get the chance.

I’ve volunteered at the Brownlee Foundation mini-triathlons for a number of years, and they are always an extremely well run and brilliant event. The whole set up is designed to allow children of all abilities and backgrounds the opportunity to participate in something they would not normally do, in a no fuss and enjoyable environment. More of this type of event is needed to break down socio-economic barriers in sport (and life in general). The team at the foundation do a fantastic job!
