Harrogate Harriers & Athletic Club was formed in April 2000 from the amalgamation of two athletics clubs, Harrogate A.C .and Imperial A.C. Both of these clubs enjoyed a substantial amount of success in years gone by, including having representatives running at county and national level.
Since 2000, membership has risen to over 200 members and the club is thriving.
They offer an exciting range of training opportunities for junior athletes from ages 9-17.
Initial training for younger children aged (typically School Years 5-6) is often held indoors and concentrates upon developing their confidence and skills in a games-based environment. They learn basic skills such as Agility, Balance and Co-ordination.
Athletes then progress to different indoor and outdoor training sessions, to develop a range of running, jumping and throwing skills. The training groups cater for a wide range of ability and experience.
Some of the older athletes (typically School Years 9+) will then wish to progress onto event-specific training.
The club competes in a variety of competitive local and national events, including team, relay and individual championships. We are an affiliated club for athletics, cross-country and fell-.
In the spring and summer months, the Club’s focus turns to Track & Field events.
Harrogate Harriers and A.C. is affiliated with UK Athletics (UKA) and accredited by Clubmark
