School Events
The Brownlee Foundation events are designed to give primary school children an introduction to the sports of triathlon, swimming, cycling and running.
Our events are free for primary schools and are aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils enabling them to try something new and have fun being active in sport.
The events are fun, non-competitive and inclusive. With no need for any previous triathlon experience, children of all abilities are able to take part.

Brownlee Foundation Mini-Triathlon Event – York 2023
17 May
Event Navigation
The Brownlee Foundation events have been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the community. They attribute much of their success to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport. We’ve teamed up with Pho3nix Kids to bring you the events in 2023.
The event will give Key Stage 2 pupils an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. No previous experience or expertise in triathlon is required.
All children will swim 50m in the pool, cycle 800m on grass and run 300m (all distances are approximate). Bikes and helmets will be provided and every child will receive a t-shirt beforehand and a medal and goody bag when they cross the finish line.
The event will run from 9.30am – 3.00 pm and schools who would like to attend will be allocated a timeslot for their children to take part in the activities at some point during these times. Each school will be given an arrival time at least 30 minutes before their allocated slot in order to go through the registration and briefing process and then it will take about an hour for the children to complete the event. Once your children have finished the triathlon you will be free to return to school.
Each school is asked to indicate how many KS2 children they would like to bring should spaces permit. However please note that if demand exceeds capacity, the numbers of children per school may have to be limited and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
Please note that children taking part in the triathlon must be able to swim. A shorter swim option is available, remaining in the shallow end of the pool, for less confident swimmers and scooters are available for children who are unable to ride a bike.
At this stage, we would like to know if your school would like to participate in the event.
Please complete the registration form below by clicking ‘Register for Event’
Once we have closed registration we will then email to confirm the number of spaces you have been allocated and further details for the day.
These events are for primary schools therefore only entries from schools will be accepted.
We have now closed registration due to the event being oversubscribed.
If you haven’t registered yet and would still like to attend, we would encourage you to complete the registration form and we will place you on the waiting list.
Places do often become available due to the initial numbers requested changing.
